Our Siquijor Trip

Siquijor  is an island province located in Central Visayas. It  is known as "Isla Del Fuego ( Island of Fire) due to the swarm of fireflies around the island.  Others say that it is famous for its stories about witchcraft and sorcery. Some say that they go there to purchase love potions and spells for good luck in business.

For me, it is simply a beautiful island with very warm and friendly people. It is a great place to relax and unwind.

When we arrived at the port, we looked for a vehicle to rent to make it easier for us tour the entire island.  Our only option was to rent a scooter.  You can easily find scooters for rent just outside the port. We rented one for 2 days (P300/day).  

We immediately started off to look for a place to stay. Now my advise to travelers who plan to do a DIY trip or plan on backpacking during summer season, it is always best to book for a place to stay prior to arriving on the island.  We checked more than 5 resorts and luckily found a place to stay.  We arrived at noon, checked some resorts.. didn't find any yet so we stopped over at Capilay, Spring Park in San Juan, Siquijor for a quick lunch.

                                                ** The Old Balete Tree **

Our next  stop was at the old Balete tree.  It is a 400-plus-year-old old tree which is believed by the locals to be enchanted to this day.

After relaxing our tired feet, we then continued our  journey to finding a place to stay.  We saw a signage that points us to a resort that is a bit far from the main road.  We decided to give it quick look.

We never thought we could find this hidden paradise after all the resorts we looked at. 

When we arrived, we were welcomed by their accommodating staff.  There was actually a wedding reception going on and we were informed that all their sea-view rooms were full. We were then taken uphill to look at the mountain-view rooms and we were amazed by the spectacular view overlooking the ocean.

So we ended up choosing one of the mountain-view rooms.

After we were settled, which was already almost evening, we decided to have our dinner beside the beach. The great thing about Prinsesa Bulakna is that you can cook your meals (sugba2x style).  The staff even offered to cook for us but we politely declined as we know they were busy with the ongoing wedding. We just shared some of the food we cooked as a way of saying thanks for the great accommodation and hospitality.

The following day, we woke up early to witness the sunrise. We had our early breakfast then took a swim right after. Breakfast for 2 is included in the accommodation which is a really good deal.  The food was good and they had large servings.

** The Suprise!!! **

While we were at the pool enjoying our early dip, we were approached by one of the staff and we were surprised by the news she brought us. Our room was upgraded to one of the sea view rooms for free. Why?!? Well, she said, the manager was really grateful that we fed his his staff the night before. Wow!! We didn't expect that at all. The manager was Italian, who spoke really good English and Bisaya too! Thanks so much sir for the warm accommodation.  

We definitely recommend Prinsesa Bulakna to friends and family.

Siquijor is definitely a place to visit if you're looking for a place away from the crowd. It's limitless beauty, white beaches, warm people and serene atmosphere makes it a great place for a relaxing vacation.

DAILY BLOG

MY  DAILY SCHEDULE:

Alright guys, here it is...

Today, I will be sharing with you my daily routine or daily schedule as a work from home mom....so here it goes.

2:00 -- Wake up and prepare for work. I only gave myself 15 mins to wash my face, brush my teeth,       change clothes and have coffee. How about you? How long does it take for you to prepare?

2:15 - 6:15 -- I start working for my first employer.  I have 3 employers at  present.

6:15-6:30 -- have breakfast with kids.. on a regular weekday/school day, nanny wakes them up and  prepares them for school, husband drives them to school


6:30- 8:30-- back to work! 2nd client now

8:30-10:00--work for 3rd client

10:00-10:30 -- eat snacks and rest for a bit

10:30-11:30-- continue working for 3rd client


My daily shift ends at 11:30 or 12:00 depending on my daily workload. I have flexible working schedule for client 1 and 3, except client 2 wherein I have to work on a specific schedule. I prefer to have this schedule, work straight hours, because it keeps me going, as opposed to working in broken scheds.

I am a full-time work from home from mom, a wife, a mother of 2 beautiful little ones and an entrepreneur.  

To all working moms out there, how do you maintain a work-life balance? 

I am no expert in the field of blogging. I may not even commit myself to launching a blog to showcase my writing to a waiting world— but this I know…I have been amazed by the information that I get from different bloggers—most especially stay at home moms and their day to day struggle.

Most blogs I see are from other countries. I seldom encounter blogs from Asian writers. So may plan is to share my story...the story of how Asian moms deal with life, family, work, stress and everything you can think of.

   

It takes takes a lot of courage to put your story and your life out there. I hope to share mine not only to all working and stay-at-home moms-- but also to everyone who needs a little inspiration.
